If you want to get the most out of your High Definition (HD) entertainment then it is suggested to go with the advance FastLane technology. As a matter of fact, with the FastLane technology, the Netgear WiFi extender connects to your Netgear WiFi router (or any) using one band and connects to your wired and wireless devices using another band.

In case, all your devices and your Netgear WiFi router support only the 2.4 Gigahertz (GHz) band, or all your devices and your Netgear WiFi router support only the 5 Gigahertz (GHz) band, it is suggested: “do not enable the FastLane Technology”.

When you turn on or enable the FastLane Technology, 2 options are available:

  1. Use the 2.4 Gigahertz (GHz) band to connect the Netgear wireless range extender to the WiFi-enabled devices and use the 5 Gigahertz (GHz) band to connect the Netgear range extender to the Netgear WiFi router. Moreover, make use of this mode if your Netgear WiFi router supports the 5 Gigahertz (GHz) band. But the networking devices that you wish to use for gaming and streaming must support the 2.4 Gigahertz (GHz) band.

  2. Moreover, use the 5 GHz band to connect your Netgear wireless range extender to the WiFi-enabled devices and use the 2.4 GHz band to connect the Netgear extender to the Netgear wireless router. Make use of this mode if the devices you wish to use for gaming and streaming supports the 5 GHz band but your wireless router supports the 2.4 GHz band.

How to activate FastLane mode?

  • First and foremost, launch an internet browser from a computer, laptop, or a mobile device that is connected to your Netgear extender’s default network name.

  • Log in to your Netgear WiFi extender:
