A resume is the most important document that makes your identity in the eyes of a recruiter. A CV is a more detailed document about your achievements and a resume is a more concise version. A resume is what is commonly asked for when applying for a job. It includes all those things which clearly show that how you are best for prospect employer.

It is not matters at all that which format you are choosing, every winning resume includes the following basic sections:

  • Address section
  • Summary Section
  • Education Detail
  • Technical Skills
  • Projects Detail
  • Strengths
  • Extra-Curricular Activities
  • Personal Details
  • Address Section

This section will be on top of your resume with important details like name, address, phone number and e-mail address. Keep this section left aligned and draw a bold line below it to separate it from the rest of the document.

  • Summary Section

The effective way to write this section is to start it with a heading called summary and mention your experience, achievements, certifications etc. Before drafting this section, think for a while with the peaceful mind; write all the useful points on a paper and then write it in your resume impressively and effectively.

If you are fresh graduates, then mention the major project that you have done in your last semester.

  • Educational Details

As you have already mentioned your experience and achievements, so, let’s starts telling about your educational background. There are various companies who give a lot of preference on educational background. The academic record is an integral part of any resume. So, start it by putting your highest degree on top and then lower qualifications at lower levels. Give the details of degree, year of passing and percentage of marks obtained etc.

  • Technical Skills

Next section in your resume will present your technical skills set. Start this section by telling your major skills on which you have confidence and list down all your technical skills in the order.

  • Projects Details

Show the details of all projects and assignments in this section. A recruiter should understand what you have done in the past.

  • Strengths

Once done with the details of all the projects, you have to mention about your major strengths.

  • Extra-Curricular Activities

This section is optional because it is not necessary that every candidate has actively participated in various Extra-Curricular Activities at school or college level.

  • Personal Details

This is the last but mandatory section in your resume which provides the important information about you. Mention your date of birth, sex, nationality, language is known, passport number etc.

Mention all the above things in such a way that it can leave a strong impression in the first look for the profile you have applied. An employer hardly takes 10-15 seconds to make a decision about your interview call after looking at your resume. If your resume is written well, then definitely you will get shortlisted for the interview. Otherwise, your resume will be a part of either a dustbin or a recycle bin.

Now you are done and you have a great resume in your hand.
