Gopro has unveiled its new Hero 6 Black Flagship action Camera. We show that what’s new and whether it is worth upgrading from Hero 5 Black
When Webbywebb reviewed GoPro Hero 5 Black, we called it Gopro’s “Great Hit Action Camera” and said that it brought together the best piece of pieces from Gopro’s previous cameras, with the disturbances of new useful features. It was just a major price cut, from $ 399 to 299, so now it’s a better price than ever before.
Hero 6 Black makes some strong foundation so, but is it worth upgrading? Let’s jump in and find out.
GoPro Hero 6 Black vs GoPro Hero 5 Black – Design
We can keep it a little and sweet, in appearance, both models are the same. This means that both of these features have a slightly rotten rubber outer and built-in water resistant 10 meters without the need for a separate case. Still have dual microphones
This is good news if you have picked any 5 black-specific mount, third party gimbals, karma drones or karma grafts because they will still work fine. Of course both models work with a wide range of standard GoPro, which are also there.
GoPro Hero 6 Black vs GoPro Hero 5 Black – Resolution and framerates
This is where things go away Gopro Hero 6 Black’s main upgrade is internal and comes from GP1 custom processor. It is used to unlock high resolution and frame rate options compared to Hero 5 Black.
Hero 5 Black is at the top of 4 resolution at 30 FPS, while the Hero 6 Black can now shoot 4K at a clever 60 fps. This is one such case for slow motion footage, the Hero 5 could shoot the black 240 FPS slow-motion video at 720 p frame rate only. With the Hero 6 Black, you can now shoot 240fps at a very fast 1080p resolution. If you want smooth high-resolution footage or fast motion, these are both very big upgrades. Above this, if you do not want to leave the resolution too much, then still at 120fps between 2.7, but still want some flexibility around the slow motion.
GoPro has also said that GP1 processors will allow better dynamic range and low-light performance. As long as we can not keep it through our money, it will be difficult to see how much improvement it will be. But definitely the resolution and frame rate options in Hero 6 Black is an advantage.
GoPro Hero 6 Black vs GoPro Hero 5 Black – Controls and stabilization
Both models still support voice control in 10 different languages and include a touch screen. Hero 6 Black has also awakened on the voice option. If you turn off the camera with the voice command, it comes in listening mode for 8 hours, then you can use ‘GoPro Turn On’ or ‘GoPro Start Recording’
Hero 6 is a new touch zoom for black, which allows you to zoom in. It will be at a loss in image quality compared to optical zoom, but if you want to move closer to the action, it will be a useful option to leave behind in order to harm yourself without necessarily doing it, Not new, though. Zooming in the image is actually just changing the area of the scene, which was previously the ‘narrow’ option, which has now been removed. GoPro says it is more intuitive, with a slider adjustment, it can also mean that zooming is important, which was not the first choice.
Both models support electronic image stabilization, but GoPro has said that Hero 6 Black is its most advanced image stabilization, again by providing additional slurry for software stabilization by the courtesy of GP1 processor. Hero 6 will support electronic image stabilization at Black 4K / 30 and 1080p / 120, which is not available on Hero 5 Black, which is very welcome. Essentially, electronic image stabilization is available on any offer, which is located below its maximum.
After some initial testing with the new Hero 6 Black, better imaging image stabilization is actually a big step from the previous model, especially with the better management of roll adjustment, running elephant footage is very comfortable with less than that feature bounce.
GoPro Hero 6 Black vs GoPro Hero 5 Black – Battery life
Both models use the same battery, which is good news, if you have existing parts considering the battery that has changed between Hero 4 and Hero 5. GoPro has said that battery life will remain the same between the two models while shooting in similar models. We watched about 1 hour and 30 minutes of shooting from Hero 5 Black to 1080/30, so it should be the same.
You can expect less battery life while shooting in more intense 4K and slow motion mode.
GoPro Hero 6 Black vs GoPro Hero 5 Black – Price
The GoPro Hero 6 Black price will cost $399. Just recently, GoPro dropped the price of the GoPro Hero 5 Black from £399 to £299, making it a very compelling choice. Based on this, it’s going to meet the needs of most people and is great value.
